At Disney's D23 fan convention, Lucasfilm President Dave Filoni unveiled upcoming projects in the Star Wars universe, with the highlight being a trailer for the forthcoming film 'Starfighter'. Scheduled for release on May 28, 2027, the movie stars Ryan Gosling and Flynn Gray as lead characters.
Gosling's character, Kade Auberon, was introduced during the event. The film is set five years after 'The Rise of Skywalker' and features a star-studded cast including Aaron Pierre, Mia Goth, Amy Adams, Daniel Ings, Jamael Westman, Simon Bird, Matt Smith, and Eman Esfandi who plays Ezra Bridger.
Shawn Levy directs the film, which he described as a stand-alone adventure not tied to any prequels or sequels.
During the event, Rosario Dawson, Ahsoka live-action actress, and Hayden Christensen, who played Anakin Skywalker in Star Wars Episodes II and III, joined Filoni on stage. Christensen's return to the character is expected in season two of Ahsoka Tano, streaming on Disney Plus on Jan 20, 2027.
To commemorate the 50th anniversary of Star Wars, the original movie will be rereleased in theaters next year.
