African Defense Tech Startup Terra Industries Secures $52M for Global South Infrastructure

Terra Industries, an African defense technology company, announced an additional $18 million in funding on Monday, bringing its seed round to $52 million. The funding round was led by Joe Lonsdale’s 8VC, Silent Ventures, and Nova Global. Since its launch in 2024, Terra has become a prominent player in the African defense tech industry with plans to develop autonomous systems and infrastructure such as drones and mine-detecting combat vehicles. The company aims to secure $100 million in contracts, including federal contracts, and generate revenue in tens of millions by year's end. Terra intends to use the fresh capital to expand manufacturing across the Global South, open a London office, hire more staff, and accelerate product deployment.
